Ontario Community Council on Impaired Driving is a registered charity operating in Ontario since 1989 (officially). We have hosted the arrive alive DRIVE SOBER campaign since that time. OCCID does not telemarket, we do not use professional fundraisers. All board members sit in a voluntary capacity. |

Our Charity Work - Where the Money Goes Before you become involved in our organization, we want you to know our commitment to our cause… The information below can be confirmed on Revenue Canada’s website. In 2005, OCCID spent $204,000 on our charitable work - representing 80% of our gross revenue of about $250,000; that figure is about 18 times what we were required to spend as outlined in Revenue Canada’s “disbursement quota”. We issued approximately $14,000 in charitable receipts - this means we are required (by Revenue Canada) to spend (approximately) $11,200 on our charitable work. We very much surpassed the requirement. We typically do. Over the years we have accumulated a surplus towards the amount we can receipt - $772,190 (that's how much OCCID could issue in charitable receipts without spending anything on charitable work). We do not telemarket, and we do not use any paid fundraisers. We operate with the support of several committees made up 100% of volunteers. Being true to our mission, OCCID shares materials and resources with more than 400 groups/schools, public health units, businesses, and police services every year. We note that Ontario has the safest roads in Canada and we are proud to have played a role in this achievement. Here's is a link to Revenue Canada's website - then "search" for OCCID You can donate to OCCID by completing this form and mailing/faxing it; please note you can choose to allocate your support to a local group or to a specific organization (e.g. OSAID, TIRF, Student Life Education Company). You can also volunteer locally by contacting our office directly.
